Starting on January the 30th 2025, I will be holding a series of workshops focussed on creativity and self-expression with an emphasis on songwriting, poetry and lyrics. Anyone interested in creativity is welcome to join!

The workshops will offer a gentle and encouraging space to explore songwriting, creative writing, poetry, prose or any other form of creativity. We will use guided meditation and relaxation exercises drawn from Yoga and Tai Chi to help access the creative flow. We will focus on a different work by an established artist each week, and explore what inspired the artist to bring the piece into being.

Space will then be given to creative free flow of ideas. These ideas will form the basis of a piece of work that can be developed during the coming week and I will share different ways that can be used to develop ideas into finished work. We will end each session by sharing reflections, insights, or fragments of work, although no participant will be required to share anything.

The workshops will offer a safe environment for creative expression free of judgement and criticism, with no audio or video recording taking place.

The workshops will take place on Thursday evenings from 19:00 - 21:00, starting from the 30th of January. There are ten workshops in the series and the cost is 180 EUR for the ten workshops. You can book here

I recently deepened my knowledge of how music and creativity can play a positive role in our lives by completing an online course offered by The Berklee College of Music. The course is called Music For Wellness: An Integrative Approach. I received a verified certificate upon completion of the course.

This is what some of my students have said about classes and workshops I have given:

“A very inspiring and laid-back workshop allowing creativity to come to the fore. Meditation proved a useful tool in accessing ideas. Sharing and hearing work from other participants was really nice. Alastair created a lovely rapport and encouraged everyone to leave that inner critic behind and explore their creative process. A wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon!”

“The workshops helped me to make a start on song writing and was a safe creative space with like-minded people.”

“This is an excellent songwriting workshop. I have done a number of workshops in the past but the approach Alastair takes is totally different, much more interesting and very beneficial to my songwriting. I would recommend the course to anyone interested in

songwriting. It is also great fun.”

“A unique and moving experience. Alastair was excellent. I found the meditations were a great way finding words and expressions.”
